Umpiring
What does an umpire do?
Umpires play a vital role in ensuring bowls is played fairly, safely, and in accordance with the Laws of the Sport. They support the smooth running of games by applying the laws consistently and confidently, helping create a positive experience for players at all levels. Umpiring offers an active way to stay involved in the game, contribute to competition, and support the integrity of bowls.

The umpiring pathway briefly
The Bowls New Zealand umpiring pathway provides a clear progression for umpires at all levels—from officiating at club competitions through to national and international environments.
Start your journey at Level 1 and progress over time as your confidence and knowledge of the game develop.

High Performance
To Plan, implement and monitor a programme to improve the performance of all Northland representative teams.
​
The High-Performance Panel is responsible for overseeing the identification, development and ongoing support of players, coaches and programmes operating at a high- performance Level in Lawn Bowls. The panel ensures that structures, standards and processes are in place to enable players to achieve consistent, elite level performances while upholding fairness, wellbeing and integrity.
